So, what is this site all about?  The Georgia Butterflies web site was originally created in July 2000 to assist the United States Geological Survey - Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center in developing a more complete picture of butterfly distribution in the State of Georgia.

The web site created by the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center, Butterflies of North America, depicts the range of each species of butterfly by county or parish.  Due to a variety of reasons, distribution of butterflies occurring in Georgia is quite incomplete and it is hoped that this site will fill in some of the gaps.

This site is indexed by county and species.  Images that are indexed on this site have either been photographed by myself, have been forwarded to me (see Acknowledgments), or are linked to an image appearing on another web site.
